Everything for my brother Ray's life celebration was above and beyond our already high expectations after Fred Hunter's was recommended by my brother's best friend. Funeral Director Zacary Brookin, along with Renee, Dawn and Anthony, set up two larges screens with a photo and video montage. They also set up multiple tables of photos and memorabilia decorated to the two themes giving most meaning to Ray's life, his love of the ocean and his rebirth 22 years ago through his immersion and devotion to service in AA. Pastor Emily Jazombek read moving passages and poems, heartening friends and family, before turning the podium over to those who wanted to speak about Ray. A buffet with servers treated Ray's guests to a fitting send-off with delicious entrees. Preparations leading up to the event were smooth and easy thanks to Mr. Brookin and assistant Sydney at the Hollywood main office. I hope Ray was watching - likely since there wasn't a Dolphins game being played at the same time. If so, I know he nodded his approval. Great job and thank you from all his friends and family.

My mom recently passed away and we contacted Fred Hunter funeral home because we had used them before when my father passed away and their service had been prompt, respectful and kind. Our initial phone consultation was good but a lot of information was left out which I wish we had known in advance and maybe we would have made a different choice. We were told they work on a first come , first serve basis, They gave us a quote and we paid in full. Our situation was special because since none of us live in Florida, and her passing was sudden, we needed a quick cremation service to be able to then travel to our home town with her ashes and have a ceremony at a later date when the whole family is able to attend. We were clear about letting them know what we needed. It took them almost three weeks to be able to cremate my mother’s remains! It was hard to process the fact of her being in a refrigerator for that amount of time.! Not to mention the disruption in all our lives having to remain in Florida for this amount of time as well. They were never able to give us a specific date for her cremation, which tells me we were probably just an afterthought. They offered to send her remains by mail but we had heard so many horror stories about remains getting lost in the mail, that we wanted to avoid this. We later found out that they do not work on a first come first serve basis but give precedence to Hindu funerals who must witness the cremation process after the service, and apparently they have a lot of those at this location. Also, probably the fact that we were not spending a large sum of money, made them leave us for last. Communication with them was also difficult as they do not return phone calls and you must leave phone messages that do not get answered. After a lot of time and aggravation we were able to secure her remains and continue our journey. Maybe times have changed and certain things are no longer considered sacred when managing the remains of a persons loved one, and it is just business after all, but we certainly did not feel heard or seen by this company thru a difficult time.

I’m familiar with this funeral home because I am in the industry. My best friend’s father passed and she was in NY so I referred her to Fred Hunter because she needed a place in Hollywood. The situation was complicated but they made it so easy. She was able to come with her family, honor her father’s wishes, and the staff did everything for her even the prayer cards. They were amazing and made everything stress free. They are professional and care about you and your loved ones. Thank you for being everything we needed. You helped us honor Roberto DePaz the way he would have wanted it.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the services provided by Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home. Barbara Losada and Samarah Gordon were professional, compassionate, empathetic, and “communicative” from beginning to end. Dealing with the passing of my 96-year-old mother was traumatic enough, and having to sort out the arrangements while grieving was not an easy task; these two individuals made the process easier. Even though my mother had prearranged her funeral with Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home with William Carmargo, who was also professional and kind, there were still many decisions to be made. Barbara was always available to me by text day and night, offering her time, a priceless commodity. The day before the funeral, when we set up my mother’s memory table, the rest of the staff were there to offer help and support. Each of them answered any questions we had, and if they didn’t know the answer to our question, they quickly found the answers. In addition, we used the community center for the reception afterward. We brought in our caterer, who worked in sync with the help offered by Fred Hunter’s. The Community Center's help was outstanding! Miriam and the tall gentleman, I do not recall his name, went well beyond the call of duty. On the day of my mother’s Celebration of Life, everyone was greeted at the door with kindness and respect. Being surrounded by such a professional and compassionate staff was most comforting during the most emotional time in a person's life. Much gratitude, and God Bless everyone at Fred Hunter’s.

The staff is phenomenal. Barbara Losada was exceptional as funeral director for my beloved mom's arrangements. She made sure that the service was a flawless and seamless experience. Kammie was amazing. The food for the reception at the community center was excellent. I received many compliments on the food and the service. My family was so pleased with how thoughtful and professional the staff were. I am very grateful, and I highly recommend Fred Hunter's for your family's needs.
